The Grudge
For this week's Essay This assignment:
It starts in a perfectly innocent manner. It whispers in your ear telling you what it thinks you should or shouldn't do. It's a sneaky one, though. It continues to peck away at your thoughts until...it grabs hold and slowly bores its way into your heart and mind. Once it's taken hold, it takes over, gains control, guides your thoughts in directions you'd never have gone if you'd had your wits about you.
You can feel it in there, in your head, its tentacles reaching out, lacing delicately around the mind, waiting for an opportunity to squeeze. Once that pressure is applied, it's difficult to escape its grasp. It's a living, breathing thing patroling the borders, waiting for the chance to morph into its evil counterpart - revenge. At first, it is the one holding desperately to you. The reality then changes. It is no longer holding you. You are holding onto it. This is when it gets tricky. It's easy to escape now, simple even. The path to freedom is obvious and yet we cannot see it.
We get lost in our anger, sometimes forgetting what the original 'reasons' were for the grudge-seeds planting. Our vision is clouded as we hang onto the comfort, the familiarity, happily watering, and fertilizing it, oblivious as we watch it proliferate.
It's easy to forget...the only thing we have to do to find escape from its torment is...let go.

This is so true and a great description. Now, can you write about exactly HOW to let go? You could bottle and sell that skill and become a millionaire. I wrote an article on Letting Go for the "rag", but I certainly am not practicing what I preach. Nice job.

I wish I could, Moon, but I'm not sure I know.
